Japanese Drama (Part 2)

Ladies and gentlemen, I did it again... I finished a Japanese drama last night. A normal 10-episode drama is usually 700++ minutes long (1 episode is like 70 minutes each) so guess what time I slept. 330 am! Good Lord! Thank God I don't have that many classes today (though I yawned more than usual today => ) ...

Anyway, the name of this drama is called 野ブタをプロデュース Nobuta wo produce, and the main cast of this drama is 亀梨和也 (Kamenashi Kazuya) and 堀北真希 (Horikita Maki). And of course, my favourite actor-cum-singer, 山下智久 (Yamashita Tomohisa). Hehe... The casts consists of lots of pretty boys and girls (remember 戸田恵梨香 Toda Erika from Death Note 2??). But I have to say that this is definitely a drama for hot-blooded teens, what with all these eye candies. However, I think the main reason this drama was so popular with the Japanese here during fall 2005 is because of the hotties from Kat-tun and NEWS, 2 of Japan's dominant boybands; Kamenashi and Yamapi. Plus, the song was really nice and the two of them had some amazing dance steps. Check out their MV from youtube if you have the time; it's called 青春アミーゴSeishunn Amigo=>

This drama is actually an adaptation from a novel with the same title. According to my Japanese friend, the drama and the novel's plots are entirely different. However, I found the drama an invigorating experience and let me just do a brief summary of the drama's plot. Here's the 4/11 from jdorama.com
Shuji Kiritani (Kazuya Kamenashi) is one of the most popular guys in his school. He is pretending to care for all of his classmates, but deep down, is quiet and doesn't open up to others. But for some reason,when his eccentric classmate Akira Kusano (Tomohisa Yamashita) is around, he can show his true self. One day, a new girl from another school comes to Shuji's classroom. Her name is Nobuko Kotani (Maki Horikita). Nobuko=Nobuta. Fromher gloomy looks, she begins to get harassed by the class bullies in no time. The harassment was devastating. Her lunch gets ruined, she gets a vase of flowers on her desk meaning she had died, and she even gets water splashed while she is in the toilet booth. After knowing that the bullying is by Bando (FumikoMizuta), Shuji and Akira advise Nobuko to try to harmonize with others. But Nobuko tells them that she has tried to do so in the past, but every time it turns out miserable. Shuji tells Nobuko to have a more positive attitude, and he protects Nobuko from the harassment. However, he feels that the bullying won't stop that easily.
Hearing about this, Akira comes up with the idea to makeover Nobuko from her looks to her personality, so that she'd become one of themost popular girls in their school. That way, there's no way the bullies can harass her. And so Shuji and Akira's great make-over begins...
A Cinderella story which portrays the social life of Japanese teenagers. Can this gloomy girl really become popular in her school?
